Colors of Brittany
This exhibition is an invitation for a voyage to discover the "colors of Brittany." Between tranquility and brutality, the world of the sea astonishes. When I paint, I return home to France--Brittany. I dive into the colors of my childhood, of the fishing ports, of the simplicity of life by the sea. A boat, a bike, a door, a bench, a fishing net... a few seemingly meaningless objects can express a world and take you for a journey to Brittany...

Laurence Delaunay Masters expresses her love of her French homeland, Brittany, and its unique seaside culture in a variety of media, including watercolor, chalk, and most recently acrylic on canvas. In 2002, she traded the tranquil seaside life in Brittany to start a family in the mountains of Nederland, Colorado. While growing up and teaching physical education in France, she was surrounded by the coastal landscapes and maritime culture which make Brittany a unique place even in France. Since arriving in Colorado, she has devoted her time to her family and her art. Her working media includes acrylic on canvas, watercolor, chalk, children's books, and painted furniture. She has exhibited her art most recently at the Wild Mountain Brewery and Smokehouse and previously at the Art Gallery and Rustic Moose in Nederland, Colorado. She hopes "Colors of Brittany" expresses the richness of seaside life and invites further inquiry and possible journey to Brittany.
