Please support BCAA on CO Gives Day

Tuesday, December 6

24 Hours starting at 12:00 am

Colorado Gives is an online giving website featuring over 1,700 Colorado nonprofit organizations. Made possible by Community First Foundation since 2007, ColoradoGives.org encourages charitable giving by providing comprehensive, objective and up-to-date information about Colorado nonprofits and an easy way to support them online. Even though it is a year-round program, there is a lot of hype that goes into Colorado Gives Day, including a $1 Million Incentive Fund made possible by the Foundation and First Bank.

If you are a Fiscal Sponsee of BCAA, direct your donors to BCAA's Donate Now button (use this link or find it on our homepage) where they can make tax-deductible contributions to you, through us. Tell your donors to specify that the donation is for your organization in the Special Instructions section. Please request donations of at least $15. Due to associated fees, BCAA is unable to cover our costs on fiscal sponsee donations of $10 or less.

New Mural by Peggy Sands

Created through partnership between BCAA and The Kroger Co.

Located in King Soopers Store, 1891 CO-7, Erie

Congratulations to Peggy Sands of Boulder who was selected to create a mural for the new King Soopers store in Erie.  Early this summer, The Kroger Company contacted BCAA and asked us to send out a Call to Artists and coordinate a committee to review entries.  Our panel, which consisted of BCAA staff, a Kroger representative, an Erie Arts Coalition representative, and a local muralist selected Peggy Sands from among an impressive group of applicants.  Peggy's mural, featuring hot air balloons which are iconic to Erie, was installed and dedicated at the Grand Opening on November 2.

BCALF and the Final Artist Displacement Report

Boulder County Arts Leadership Forum has a new logo!

Back in February, BCALF hosted a lively conversation at the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center on Artist Displacement:  Where do we go from here? Students from CU's Presidents' Leadership Class presented a white paper they wrote on Artist Drift. In May, BCALF hosted a second panel discussion on the topic at the Colorado Creative Industries Summit. Members of BCALF have summarized the outcomes from these discussions in the Artist Displacement Final Report.

In short, ADVOCACY from the artists and arts organizations is crucial to build awareness of our needs and create change among the community. Artists need:

  • Affordable living and work space
  • Funding to support the arts
  • Audience to experience art

We encourage you to read the report, as well as Subscribe to our E-news and follow the BCALF Facebook page. With our friends at the Boulder Arts Commission and the help of the Community Cultural Plan, we are working hard at getting in front of Boulder City Council. Stay tuned for upcoming discussions on Relevance and Audience Engagement.

Help us increase the reach of BCAA's Art Calendar!

If you are submitting your events and exhibitions to BCAA's Arts Calendar, then you know that you can currently check a box to have those events automatically uploaded to Boulder Arts Week's calendar and the Eventful calendar. BCAA is working to increase the reach of our calendar even further.  Thanks to a donation from Boulder Art Matrix that will be matched by the City of Boulder's Office of Arts and Culture, we will be able to increase promotion of the calendar and link to more calendars and websites in order to increase viewing and marketing of the Boulder art community. Boulder Art Matrix is a non-profit organization working to keep the arts and artists in Boulder.  After participating in conversations including a recent gathering at the Dairy, they heard the art community say there was a lack of marketing for events, shows and performances.

We are working towards allowing you to submit your event once to BCAA and then select the option to have your listing go to other calendars.

If you have ideas about specific sites for linking or elements that you feel are crucial as part of this calendar update, please contact BCAA.

Who's in the Limelight?

Of Earth: Boulder Potters' Guild

Through January 8, 2017 at the Dairy Arts Center

The mission of the Boulder Potters' Guild is to provide facilities, educational opportunities, and a supportive environment for its members and members of the larger Boulder County community to work with clay in many ways and to share the creativity and satisfaction of this ancient and continuing aspect of human culture. They Create, Teach, and Share.

An exhibition of work by the Guild is currently on view at the Dairy. Titled Of Earth, this is a juried selection of ceramic work highlighting the wide range of approaches, styles and techniques mastered by current members of the Guild.
