Brackets for Good

It's Nonprofit March Madness!

Help us make it out of Round 1 (ending March 3)

BCAA has been selected to participate in the Denver region's Brackets for Good Tournament.  In this competitive philanthropic fundraising event, 64 nonprofits face-off “March Madness” style through March 31. If you raise more $$ than your opponent, you advance to the next round.  You get to keep all the money you raise, regardless if you win or lose.  The winner of the whole tournament receives an additional $10,000.

Founded in 2011, Brackets For Good is a charitable, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Indianapolis. They are "focused on helping other nonprofits generate awareness, grab the attention of new donors, and rally internal teams around a free-to-play, bracket-style fundraising tournament where everybody wins."

Every dollar equals one point. You can score points (submit donations) for BCAA by clicking here. Use #BFG17 in social media posts and direct your social network to the website to donate. Thanks for being our MVP!

Who's in the Limelight?

John March

Musician, Audio Engineer, Producer

John March, a 2016 BCAA Grant recipient, has been active within the Boulder music, arts and media community since 1981. At that time he was living with Allen Ginsberg and studying music. He graduated in 1984 from Naropa University, and went to New York to work as a session musician and train as an audio engineer.

John was trained as a mixer and audio engineer at the prestigious Record Plant in New York City and became one of the first freelance Synclavier programmers. His efforts and training took him all around the world as a musician, producer and technologist. His clients ranged from Michael Jackson to Sting, Warner Bros. to DreamWorks, NHK to ABC TV, and everything in between.
In Boulder over the last few years, John has run the Riverside event venue and consulted for NIST and Naropa University. He is currently a consultant for TV and film, media production, augmented reality and virtual reality technologies. John is one of a handful of Haptics editors in the world. He is now collaborating with and mentoring the core team at ALOC media. Together they are focused on providing high-quality production values at a cost effective price point for the Boulder arts and small business community. Amen to that! Stay tuned for a future Business of Arts Workshop hosted by ALOC!

John is also a working professional musician and guitar player. His BCAA grant helped to create a 2nd CD to follow up his solo guitar CD. In Los Angeles he recorded and performed with the "Zen blues quartet" featuring rock 'n roll Hall of Fame musicians Mike Finnigan, Steve Ferrone, and Tim Scott. He can be seen playing locally with artists like Robert Johnson and the Boulder Blues Quartet, Hazel Miller and Chris Daniels. He and Robert Johnson recently sold out the Dairy Center, and he has a regular monthly residency with all three artists at the wonderful Jazz club Caffé Sole in South Boulder. You can see him performing there every month!
