The Art of PowerPoint: Adventure Beyond Bullet Points!
Thursday, December 14 from 5:30-7pm (Networking/Registration at 5pm)

Boulder Creek Room, Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave.

Tired of struggling to get your point across? Learn to transform boring bullet point slides into visually appealing focused presentations.
Presenter Cindy Kalman of Kalmarx Design will share 10 of the most important PowerPoint design concepts that are the backbone of creating great slides. She offers powerful “before and after” examples that will help hone your own slide-making skills and introduce you to the tools hidden in PowerPoint’s dashboard. When you leave, you will have a better appreciation of how to make great slides for your own presentations.

Make Your New Year's Art Resolutions
Monday, January 8 from 5:30-7pm (Networking/Registration at 5pm)

Still Cellars, 1115 Colorado Ave, Longmont, CO 80501

Set Artist Goals and Reach Success in 2018! Annual goal-setting is how we check in with ourselves each year, figure out our priorities, and decide how, as artists, we are going to invest our limited time and resources in the future.
In this hands-on workshop, Kathy Beekman of Art Coaching For You will help you improve the quality and realism of your goal-setting. You can also look forward to receiving helpful tools to reach your goals.
Please come hungry! The G Spot Noshery Food Truck will be on site and Still Cellars Arthouse and Distillery makes fantastic libations (including the non-alcoholic variety).

For more information and to register for either workshop, click here.  $10 BCAA members/$15 non-members

Tomorrow is Colorado Gives Day

Tuesday, December 5 for 24 hours

Donate to BCAA and/or one of our fiscal sponsees

Made possible by the Community First Foundation since 2007, Colorado Gives Day encourages charitable giving by providing comprehensive, objective and up-to-date information about Colorado nonprofits and an easy way to support them online.
Donations received on Colorado Gives Day are crucial to BCAA's operating support to bring you a full calendar of professional development workshops and artistic opportunities

The best part about getting donations on Colorado Gives Day is the Incentive Fund. Community First Foundation and FirstBank each contributed $500,000 to create a $1 Million Incentive Fund again this year, one of the largest in the country! It increases the value of every donation proportionally. At the completion of Colorado Gives Day, the Foundation determines each nonprofit's proportionate share of the incentive fund.

To donate to one of BCAA's three dozen awesome fiscal sponsees, enter the name in the "Special Instructions" section.

Who's in the Limelight?

Tom Morgan

Artistic Director & Conductor, Ars Nova Singers

Ars Nova Singers, Boulder’s nationally recognized ensemble of 40 choral musicians, will present their annual holiday concerts, Fire and Ice: Christmas with Ars Nova, in four performances this month (December 9 & 10, 14 & 15). The program includes special guest artist Nicolò Spera and will ignite the dark of winter with the sounds of his classical guitar and the passionate words of Spanish poet Federico García Lorca. Also on the program are uplifting carols old and new, presented with unique Ars Nova flair.

The man leading the choir is Tom Morgan and under his direction, the choir has become one of the premier ensembles in the region. Morgan received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota and the Master of Music degree in composition from the University of Colorado. In addition to his work with Ars Nova Singers, he serves as Music Director of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Boulder, a position he has held for 27 years. Morgan studied choral and orchestral conducting with Dale Warland, Helmut Rilling, and Giora Bernstein, and has taken master classes with Eric Ericson and Herbert Blomstedt.

As a composer, Morgan was an artist-in-residence of the Lucas Artists program at the Montalvo Center for the Arts in Saratoga, California (2006-2008). He collaborated with New York visual artist Lesley Dill in the production of I Heard a Voice, an extended work for a cappella chorus premiered by the Ars Nova Singers in September 2002.  His composition Psalm 88 for orchestra and chorus received the prestigious BMI Award, and his choral work Four Poems of e. e. cummings was presented on the opening program of the eighth Internacional Musica Nueva festival in Mexico City. Several of his works have been performed internationally by the Peiyang Chorus of Tianjin, China.

Tickets for Fire and Ice range from $10-$25, and are available here. Performances will be in Longmont (Dec 9), Denver (Dec 10) and Boulder (Dec 14 & 15). Advance purchase is recommended; the Boulder performances are expected to sell out.

Art Space Directory

Submit your Venue and Art Space and connect with creatives!

Read the FAQ

The new Art Space Directory is a matchmaking tool to connect creative people with creative art spaces.  Owners and managers of rentable spaces submit listings to the directory, and space-seekers search the directory for opportunities. Use of the BCAA Art Space Directory is completely free of charge for space-seekers, and there are no fees to submit and publish listings.

The Directory contains a list and map of venues with art spaces with photographs and detailed information. A Venue is a physical location on the map. It’s a building with a unique street address, and contains one or more art spaces. An Art Space is a rentable room (hall, auditorium, outdoor area, suite of rooms, or part of a room) at a venue location. The space is the thing you are renting and is what space-seekers are seeking. Art spaces must be associated with a Venue. You must first create a venue before you can submit a space.

By using your BCAA log-in to our website, you can upload information for your venues and art spaces and make edits any time. You do not need to log-in to browse or search the Art Space Directory.
