This year's 12-day performance art festival features 9 artists or groups of artists that live on the Front Range. All shows are taking place in various Art Spaces inside Pine Street Church. Don't miss this diverse group as well as other acts from around the country. 1) Pictured above, Khiri Lee of Boulder in Red Shoes. Inspired by fairy tales, this multimedia performance riffs and coalesces into a poetic journey of losing oneself, finding personal power, and diving deeply into creative freedom. 2) Nosilla Dance Project, Boulder in Chaos Theory. Choreographed by Alli Jones, women dance with brooms, toss kitchen items, get married, fold laundry and who knows, you might even get a chocolate chip cookie they are baking. 3) BodyEarth Collective, Longmont in Forest Spirit Pilgrimage. Audience participants are accompanied along paths leading to shrines, hovels and perches to encounter Nature Archetypes, Oracles, and the stories of Beast Beings. 4) Hurt Angry & Bitter Productions and 4th Wing Dance, Broomfield in Shoebox Full of Blues. Created by Kit Marcy, it's a sometimes funny, sometimes sad intimate look at what goes on backstage through the eyes of the local crew. 5) Appalachian and Affrilachian Artists, Boulder in Where I'm From the Mountains are Red, White and Yellow. Part poem and part dance, this work explores how color influences our understanding of race, class, and place. 6) T2 Dance Project, Boulder in Slice. This show includes a few different contemporary dance theater works, including excerpts from HOME, new premiere "Animal', and works developed from SPRINGbreak ChoreoFest. 7) Blue Dime, Boulder in Blue Dime Cabaret. The troupe in this avant-garde variety sideshow includes burlesque performers, actors, magicians, clowns, contortionists, comedians, singers, musicians, drag kings / queens, and jugglers. 8) Band of Toughs, Boulder in Nirvamlet. Hamlet melds with 90s grunge in a rocktail of icons and heart-shaped depression, with a splash of conspiracy and murder. It's a multidisciplinary evening with actors, musicians, and visual art. 9) Anthem and Aria, Denver in The Psychic Soulmates. Combining Music, Magic, and Mind Reading with an uplifting message of inner power, this show will take you on an interactive journey to reveal your secret magic powers. |
