BCAA AND THE BOLDER BOULDER

BCAA looking to partner to supply entertainment for 2015 Event
Memorial Day - Monday, May 25

Indicate your level of interest with this form.

As you probably know, this 10K race happens each Memorial Day. Runners World Magazine calls it America's All-Time Best 10K, with 50,000 runners and tens of thousands more fans along the course. With such a large audience, BCAA sees an incredible opportunity to bring attention to the arts and showcase our talented Boulder County artists.

We initiated talks with the Bolder Boulder team and are looking for interest from YOU, our members.  Is your musical group/dance group interested in performing along the course?  Are you a visual artist with an idea for an installation along the course?  Compensation for performers is available, and we are looking into opportunities for funding visual art projects.

If BCAA is able to have a booth at their Sports Expo the Saturday and Sunday before the run, would you or your group be interested in having a banner and/or other publicity material there?  Would you be available to take a shift staffing the booth?

Would your organization like to run the Bolder Boulder as a group and use it as a fundraising and/or publicity opportunity?  You might encourage your members to dress in costume or do something to identify your group.  We saw the Fringe Festival do this last year.

Do you live along the course?  Would you be willing to put a temporary art installation in your front lawn?  Or a banner? Or have a live performance in your yard?

**This past week, we drove the course with the Bolder Boulder team.  We have identified several locations for performances and installations.  This is an amazing opportunity to show Coloradoans how ART and BUSINESS can partner together for the good of the whole community.  By the beginning of April we will be finalizing ideas, so we need to hear from you quickly. Share your ideas and level of interest on this form.

WHO'S IN THE LIMELIGHT?
Maputo Mensah
Master drummer, dancer, and storyteller

Maputo Mensah is passionate about sharing the art and culture of his native Ghana with the West through the classes he teaches at the University of Colorado, Naropa University, K-12 schools, and community classes.

He is currently devoted to building the Akpe Cultural Center in Ghana.  Its purpose will be as a venue for teaching and preserving Ghana’s traditional arts.  It will give local young people a place to learn and practice those arts and will attract artists and students from the rest of the world, which will enhance the economy of the entire region.

At the end of last year, Maputo conducted an Indiegogo campaign and met his funding goal for the first phase of the project (foundations) and is about to launch a new campaign for the second phase (walls and structure). There will be a fundraiser performance at the Odd Fellows Hall on May 2 with bands and African musical traditions.

Maputo is a Fiscal Sponsee of BCAA.  You can contribute to the Akpe Cultural Center here

If you'd like to be in the Limelight, shoot us an email.
