In a new series of black and white photograms (cameraless photographs) and cellophane installations, Genevieve Waller mimics the look of science while questioning its authority. She evokes phenomena such as chain reactions, chromosomes, dark matter, electric currents, particles colliding, and radiation in abstract photographs made with objects placed directly on photographic paper. These fake scientific images along with translucent plastic chain sculptures interrogate the seductiveness of science as well as the allure of atomic culture and its simultaneous devastation.
An artist reception takes place on Friday, July 17, 5-7 p.m. in the gallery.
