Description[Edit This]

"Luminescence" is a large outdoor LED art installation on view at the meditation garden entrance to The Dairy Arts Center.

By day, a variety of metal strips woven into the two grid arches reflect the environment and capture sunlight. Come evening, over 2300 individually programmed LEDs provide a beautiful, 40 minute light show that reflects and glows off the metal strips.  The light art represents the seasons of life in Boulder as one sees the interplay of the light patterns with the two woven arches.  The light show runs from dusk to 2am every evening and is visible in The Dairy's walkway from the parking lot and from the street.

The artwork was created by five members of the Handweavers Guild of Boulder to accompany HGB's 50th anniversary exhibit, "The Art of Fiber," at the Dairy Center in 2014.  The digital lighting was created by Michael Bissell, Dan Julio and Eric Miller.
