Gallery 1261 is proud to start off the New Year with Small Works, a group exhibition featuring works spanning multiple genres that are small in scale but big in ideas and execution. The show opens January 27 and runs through March 4, with an opening reception on Friday, January 27 from 6-9 p.m.

This exhibition is engaging on many levels, seeking to showcase the rich and wide-ranging field of ideas that this group of artists is working in. This show exemplifies the diverse nature of the group of artists at 1261 with some wonderful guest artists as well. It would be an incredibly difficult undertaking to attempt to neatly categorize them as no two artists are alike and given that there are varying degrees of style amongst them, this exhibition stands out.

Some artists favor a more traditional mode of painting while others tend toward the contemporary. There will be 4 pieces by Patrick Kramer that effortlessly blend realism with elements of fantasy that create stunning works of art. Some of Anna Wypych’s beautiful portrait pieces from her “Sketch” series will also be on view. Also featured are the impeccably realistic still life paintings of local artist Dianne L. Massey Dunbar, and the soft and beautiful figurative work of Mark Tennant to name a few.

Participating Artists: Suchitra Bhosle, David Michael Bowers, Gordon Brown, Casey Childs, Mark Daily, Dianne L Massey Dunbar, Zoey Frank, Ulrich Gleiter, David Grossmann, Ron Hicks, Daniel Keys, Patrick Kramer, Jeff Legg, Catherine Mulligan, Heather Neill, Kate Sammons, David Shevlino, Adrzej Skorut, Robin Cole Smith, Bill Starke, Mark Tennant, Josh Tiessen, Anthony Waichulis, Kevin Weckbach, Anna Wypych, and Pamela Wilson.
