Erin Wiersma identifies herself as a drawing based artist. Drawing allows her to witness and echo her daily life, through a visual process. A slow, laborious building of rich lines and gestures, embedded as layers of sediment allow Erin a record of her mark, mirroring the process of life. The drawings are reflective of a kind of archiving and mapping of points of recognition within the seeming chaos.

Erin Wiersma holds a MFA from University of Connecticut and a BA from Messiah College. She has exhibited throughout the US, including recent solo exhibitions at A.I.R. Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), Mallin Gallery at Kansas City Artist Coalition (Kansas City, MO), Soho20 Gallery (New York, NY), Sarah A. Coyne Gallery at Syracuse University (Syracuse, NY), and Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery at Coastal Carolina University (Conway, SC). Her work has been featured in OnVerge – CUE Foundation, Art21Online Magazine and Two Coats of Paint. Wiersma is an artist at Robischon Gallery, Denver, CO and is a National Member at A.I.R. Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. Wiersma is an Associate Professor at Kansas State University located in Manhattan, KS.
