Description[Edit This]
With the work "Scene of Lively Directions" artist Laura Jangla Audrey was inspired by the signage and directional possibilities of the site. Audrey created a way to communicate with pedestrians and motorists while tying musical language into the site, a fitting choice for the IMIG Music Building. The work consists of two elements. The first is a 500 square foot walkway into the entrance of the building. Sandstone, slate, and terrazzo compose the walkway, which is reminiscent of timber ramp walkways leading into Italian Renaissance mansions. Three musical symbols, "crescendo, "de-crescendo," and "hold" are included in the design. The second component is a fence-like steel sculpture. Like a musical staff, there are five horizontal bars punctuated with various musical directions, such as "rest" and "hold" and the Italian phrase "poco a poco" meaning "little by little."   1998. IMIG Warner Music Building, University of Colorado Boulder.
